Before deciding, you need to consider certain priorities
• Budget
• Full cover or in-patient cover only?
• Are you prepared to pay an excess to reduce the premiums?
• Is access to hospitals nationally important to you? or just those
close to you?
• Are you happy to use the NHS for some of your treatment?
• Would you consider paying more now to make significant savings
in the future?
MediSearch 5 Star Full Cover schemes
These schemes will pay for private treatment, at either a private or NHS
hospital. Outpatient specialist consultations, diagnostic tests including
scans, physiotherapy and complementary therapies are covered, together
with all treatment whilst you stay in hospital. Irrespective of the treatment
required, or costs incurred, there is no ceiling on the available benefit.
MediSearch 4 Star Standard Schemes
Whilst similar to full cover schemes, this type of policy will usually
pay in full for
inpatient treatment, but restrict the amount of outpatient treatment you
receive. Sometimes the choice of hospital is restricted.
MediSearch 3 Star Value Schemes
Designed to pay for treatment when admitted to hospital either as an inpatient
or a day case patient, these schemes do not usually pay for outpatient
treatment or consultations. This type of scheme is worth considering if
you are prepared to use the NHS for initial consultations and investigations
– or you are prepared to pay for them privately.
